Product Description

1/2 OZ SILVER BUFFALO ROUND-HIGHLAND MINT

There’s perhaps no better homage to United States history than the ½ ounce Silver Buffalo Round. It beautifully captures the essence of two iconic American symbols, drawing design inspiration from the original Buffalo Nickel minted in 1913.

Produced by Highland Mint, this 1/2 oz Silver Buffalo Round features half a troy ounce of .999 pure silver, presenting a practical investment opportunity for those interested in precious metals.

The Buffalo Nickel originated from Theodore Roosevelt’s vision of a more distinctive American coinage. Minted until the onset of World War II. Its legacy continued in 2001 when President Clinton authorized the release of the Silver Buffalo to commemorate the founding of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. Today, it stands as a tribute to the unique heritage of Native American Plains inhabitants.

DESIGN

Designed by James Earle Fraser, the obverse side of the coin showcases a Native American portrait.  Fraser drew inspiration from features of Chiefs Big Tree, Iron Tail, and Two Moons. The word ‘LIBERTY’ is inscribed on this side.

On the reverse, you’ll find an image of the once-endangered American Buffalo, from which the coin derives its name. This side also displays the round’s weight and purity instead of the previous “United States of America Five Cents,” indicating that it is not legal tender.

KEY POINTS:

Contains half a troy ounce of .999 pure silver
Features an iconic American Buffalo design
Not legal tender
32.6mm in diameter 2.25mm thick

“I was very pleased with my dealings with Midwest Bullion Exchange. I did not feel rushed on the phone with the representative and felt free to ask any questions. My father who has dealt with a lot of other companies that deal in precious metals was also impressed with this business.”
